Innovative testing for the most appropriate care.
In order for Dr. Ramin Manshadi to recommend the most appropriate treatment method for your problem, he must first understand its nature and extent. To do this, specialized in-office cardiovascular disease testing will be conducted.
Treadmill stress test — Measures your body’s reaction to physical activity in a safe and controlled environment. It indirectly assesses the presence of coronary disease.
Electrocardiogram (ECG or EKG) — Monitors electrical activity of the heart, picking up potentially dangerous abnormalities.
Echocardiogram — An ultrasound test that can identify problems of the heart valves and muscle function.
Ankle-brachial index test (ABI) — Measures blood pressure at the ankle and in the arm to predict peripheral artery disease (PAD).
Holter monitoring — A 24-hour, carry-along heart monitoring system that can pinpoint heart rhythm problems.
Carotid intima-media thickness measurement (CIMT) — Uses high-resolution ultrasound to examine the carotid artery wall and identify early-stage atherosclerosis.
Carotid ultrasound — Assesses for carotid stenosis and prevention of stroke.
Abdominal aortic aneurysm screening (AAA) — Uses ultrasound to screen for the presence of an aneurysm in the abdominal aorta and measure its size along the blood vessel.
Cardiovascular profiling (CVP) — Dr. Manshadi was one of the first cardiologists in the area to offer CVP, which is used to assess a patient’s cardiovascular health and determine their risk for blockages in the arteries and/or heart attack.
BioZ® impedance cardiography (ICG) — This is another diagnostic advance that Dr. Manshadi was one of the first to introduce to Stockton. BioZ ICG assesses a patient’s hemodynamic (blood flow) status and helps Dr. Manshadi determine the most appropriate intervention(s), if needed. BioZ ICG is especially useful for patients with heart failure and those whose hypertension is difficult to treat.
Microvolt T-wave alternans (MTWA) — Dr. Manshadi was the first area cardiologist to offer MTWA. This test helps identify the risk of life-threatening heart rhythm problems that can lead to sudden cardiac death.
Nuclear Stress Tests — For some patients who are unable to perform standard stress testing or have non-diagnostic stress test results, this test is performed to assess potential blockages that are significant to cause symptoms at a higher accuracy than standard testing.
An ongoing commitment to exceptional patient care.
Dr. Manshadi has made continuing education an important part of his practice philosophy. He completed advanced training to become licensed in nuclear medicine, a subspecialty of radiology. A nuclear stress test can detect inadequate blood flow to your heart muscle at rest and during stress.
CT angiography (CTA) is another state-of-the-art imaging study that may be recommended. CTA is a simple, noninvasive test that is highly effective at evaluating blockages and cardiac structures. Dr. Manshadi is a member of the Society of Cardiovascular Computed Tomography and he is level II certified in reading these studies.
State-of-the-art solutions and optimal outcomes.
Dr. Manshadi utilizes today’s most advanced interventional procedures to treat heart-related conditions. These approaches involve the use of thin, flexible tubes called catheters to repair damaged blood vessels or other heart structures. The minimally invasive nature of these procedures makes them easier on patients. They are performed through tiny incision(s), which means less pain, less scarring and a faster recovery time.
Dr. Manshadi has performed thousands of interventional procedures during his career. His capabilities include cardiac catheterization, coronary artery stenting, renal artery stenting, iliac stenting, drug-eluting stents, balloon angioplasty, Loop Recorder implantation, pacemaker implantation and defibrillator implantation.
Transcatheter Aortic Valve Replacement (TAVR)
Dr. Manshadi has been trained to do the new valve surgery, Transcatheter Aortic Valve Replacement (TAVR surgery) in Germany and at UC Davis Medical Center.
Dr. Manshadi’s patient was one of the first in the area to receive this cutting-edge technology.
He performs interventional procedures — the majority of which are done on an outpatient basis — at St. Joseph’s Hospital and Dameron Hospital. Some of more complicated cases are performed at UC Davis Medical Center.
